Sophomore Checklist 

  • Talk to your school counselor about the courses you are currently taking and the courses you should take your junior and senior year. Talk to your teachers about courses you may be interested in that require a teacher's recommendation.
  • Sophomores are administered the  PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) Test in the fall. The purpose of this test is to prepare you for the SAT. You will  also need to take this tests in the 11th grade in order to qualify for scholarships and programs associated with the National Merit Scholarship Program. Advertisement for the PSAT begins in September of each year. Juniors must sign up in the School Counseling office during the registration window
 
  • Visit Mrs. Etheredge, Career Specialist, in room 106. Learn about careers and their occupational outlook. Research what career you may be interested in — this will help you when selecting a major and a college. Use the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Handbook for your research.
 
  • Participate in extracurricular activities. This will assist your college applications in the future. Also, over the summer consider volunteering for a good cause.

  • Continue doing your best in school!
