Irmo High School Mission Statement:
The mission of the Irmo High School, where excellence is never compromised, is to develop an educational community of lifelong learners who meet the global demands of the 21st century through a challenging educational program which embraces diversity and unity, instills integrity and character, and provides opportunities for leadership and teamwork.
International Baccalaureate Mission Statement:
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
Profile of the South Carolina Graduate:
The profile of the SC graduate bridges the Irmo High School Mission and the IB Mission setting the expectation for students to combine ‘World Class Knowledge with World Class Skills’.
In doing so, students follow rigorous standards in language arts and math while learning multiple languages for science, technology, mathematics, arts and social sciences for college and career readiness. Skills include creativity, innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and knowing how to learn. Characteristics for life and career develop student integrity, self direction, global perspective, perseverance, work ethic and interpersonal skills.
