About the IB Career-related Programme
Welcome to the Irmo High School
International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme is a two-year sequence and has the following requirements:
- Two to four IB courses
- Each IB course is selected from two areas of study.
- At least one IB course must be High Level, which is taken over both years.
- IB Career-related Study completer in any of the concentrations offered by The Center for Advanced Technical Studies or Irmo High School's U.S. Air Force JROTC program.
- Reflective Project, a college level research project focusing on an ethical dilemma within the student's area of study
- Personal & Professional Skills course, taken one semester junior year and one semester senior year
- Service Learning, volunteer work within the selected career field
- Language Development, an understanding of the global aspect of career
The IB Career-related Programme is a framework of international education that incorporates the values of the IB into a unique programme addressing the needs of students engaged in career-related education. The programme leads to further/higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
